El dibujo en los proyectos hidráulicos de Robert de Cotte: la bomba de la Samaritana en el Pont Neuf de Paris

Abstract

Robert de Cotte, Arquitecto de Luis XIV, además del mantenimiento de los edificios de la Corte tuvo diversas responsabilidades relacionadas con la hidráulica. En este artículo se muestran algunas de ellas, y en particular la intervención en el mantenimiento y reforma de la bomba de la Samaritana situada en el Pont Neuf. que extraía agua del Sena para distribuirla por los palacios y fuentes del centro de Paris. A partir del estudio de los magníficos dibujos de los proyectos realizados por este arquitecto entre 1712 y 1719 y conservados en la Bibliothèque Nationale de France, (BnF) se aprovecha para hacer un análisis del dibujo de la Academia, sus características, su influencia y su transformación hacia el dibujo politécnico de finales del siglo XVII.

Robert De Cotte, Architect of Louis XIV, in addition to the maintenance of the Court buildings had various responsibilities relating to hydraulics. This article shows some of them, particularly the intervention in the maintenance and renovation of the Samaritaine pump located on Pont Neuf, which took water from the Seine to distribute it to the palaces and fountains in the center of Paris. Drawing from the study of the magnificent depictions of the architect’s projects between 1712 and 1719 conserved at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, (BnF), this paper analyzes drawings in the Academy, its characteristics, influence, and transformation toward the École Polytechnique style drawing of the end of the 18th century.
