Medical interpreter figure is becoming more visible in society. However, there is still a lot to do. During the last years, new study plans addressed to train interpreters specialised in public services, including medical interpreters, have arisen. Nevertheless, these professionals do not receive any type of psychological training that may provide them with notions to be applied in order to manage negative emotions that may arise during some frequent medical situations, such as communication of bad news. The interpreter has communication skills and his o her task consists of transmitting a message from an issuer to a listener. In some occasion, the medical interpreter would have to transmit bad news from a doctor to a patient, and the or she would have the linguistic tools needed to transmit the message completely, but not the psychological tools needed to avoid that bad news affect him or her personally. Thus, the purpose is to prove that basic psychological training is necessary so that interpreters could manage their emotions and the emotional impact provoked by them when communicating bad news and, in so doing, their emotional stability during and after the interpreting sessions would be ensured and, consequently, it would be easier to separate private and working life. For that purpose, after a research phase, medical workers and interpreters have been surveyed, and professionals belonging to both groups, along with psychology experts have been intervieweden
