Humanización de la arquitectura hospitalaria: influencia del entorno físico en la salud y bienestar de los pacientes

Abstract

La Arquitectura sanitaria juega un papel fundamental para el bienestar de un gran porcentaje de personas que permanecen ingresadas durante un periodo indeterminado de tiempo y conviven con espacios que pueden resultar poco favorecedores para una recuperación óptima, ya que en algunas ocasiones, se encuentran con habitáculos deshumanizados que suponen un problema añadido a su propia enfermedad, empeorando su recuperación y olvidándose de lo mas importante: garantizar un confort que mejore su salud. La sanidad pública que disfrutamos en España es envidiable en comparación a otros países del mundo, pero la arquitectura que albergan los hospitales no ha sabido evolucionar en la misma línea de desarrollo que la arquitectura residencial que a día de hoy disfrutamos como cotidiana. Este trabajo se centra en analizar el concepto de HUMANIZACIÓN: Acción y efecto de humanizar, en este caso, aplicado al diseño de la arquitectura sanitaria, siendo el tema principal de la investigación LA HABITACIÓN, entendida como el lugar destinado para la vivencia de los pacientes y también en su aceptación como acción de habitar un espacio. A lo largo del trabajo se definirán los aspectos mas importantes para dar respuesta a las preguntas que nos acompañará durante todo este camino y nos ayudará a encontrar las claves del diseño hospitalario del futuro: ¿Cómo afecta el diseño hospitalario al bienestar y salud de los pacientes?¿Qué papel juega la arquitectura? Actualmente nos encontramos con numerosos ejemplos en los que la arquitectura sanitaria necesita de una Re-humanización en sus núcleos mas básicos como una habitación. Algo que puede resultar sorprendente a primera vista y que afecta intrínsecamente a la vida de cientos de personas. Calidad de vida, Confort y Habitaciones Humanizadas como base de investigación.

Sanitary architecture has a fundamental role for the well-being of a large percentage of people who remain hospitalized for an indeterminate period of time and live in spaces that can be unfavorable for an optimal recovery, since on some occasions, they remain in dehumanized habitats that are a problem added to their own illness, making their recovery worse and forgetting the most important thing: guaranteeing comfort that improves their health. The public healthcare that we enjoy in Spain is enviable in comparison to other countries in the world, but the architecture of its hospitals has not known how to evolve in the same line of development as the residential architecture that we enjoy today as a daily basis. This work focuses on analyzing the HUMANIZATION´s concept: Action and effect of humanizing, in this case, applied to the design of sanitary architecture, being the main research topic THE ROOM, understood as the place destined for the experience of patients and also as the action of inhabiting a space. Throughout this thesis, the most important aspects will be defined to answer the questions that will be with us along this journey and will help us to find the keys to the hospital design of the future: How does hospital design affect the well-being and health of patients? What is the role of architecture? Nowadays, we can find numerous examples in which healthcare architecture needs a Re-Humanization in its most basic areas such as rooms, something that may be surprising at first sight and that intrinsically affects the lives of hundreds of people.
