Abstract
The aim of this project is to try to understand better some of the abandoned villages from the “meseta central”, and analyse, from the most accurate perspective, the immaterial values they have.
There are three cases that we are going to look at, all located on the “meseta central”; Madrid, Soria and Guadalajara (Fresno del Torote, Aldealcardo y Tobes, respectively).
Each different because of their climate, their surroundings, and the reason for their exoduses, but equally ravaged by depopulation. Chronology is provided through historical orthophotos, blueprints, photography and handmade drawings done at the places, with the objective of representing its essence and discerning the values each village has.
This project is, thus, very personal, but sustained by objective information and analysis.
The subject of this project is abandonment. Although no repopulation problem is being discussed (e.g. España Vaciada), it does not lose sight of an issue that, although commonly known, is yet to be addressed.
