Actitudes hacia el psicólogo y la búsqueda de ayuda psicológica profesional durante la pandemia COVID-19: Un estudio descriptivo comparativo

Abstract

Antecedentes: Durante el año 2020 la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) declaró el SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) como una pandemia, lo que ha desencadenado consecuencias en cuanto a salud física y mental en la población mundial. Teniendo en cuenta el comportamiento de anteriores pandemias y las cifras actuales se predice que habrá un aumento en la comorbilidad psicológica de los habitantes. Así mismo, se ha encontrado que las actitudes intervienen en el comportamiento de los individuos, por lo cual una actitud neutra o negativa hacia un objeto o persona dificultará la ejecución de una acción, como la búsqueda de ayuda psicológica profesional. Método: El diseño que se propone para la presente investigación es un enfoque cuantitativo transversal con un alcance descriptivo. Para esto se contará con la participación de adultos que residan en España. Los instrumentos de recolección de información serán el instrumento realizado por Riveros et al. (2015), la escala corta de actitudes hacia la búsqueda de ayuda profesional (ATSPPH-SF) y un cuestionario de variables sociodemográficas. Resultados: Se identificó una actitud favorable en la actitud hacia el psicólogo y hacia la búsqueda de ayuda psicológica profesional en las personas que residen en España. Se identificaron diferencias significativas en las actitudes hacia el psicólogo con respecto a los recursos para asistir a terapia, y para el caso del sexo con respecto a las actitudes hacia la búsqueda de ayuda. Hubo una correlación positiva entre las actitudes hacia el psicólogo y hacia la búsqueda de ayuda.

Background: During 2020 the World Health Organization (WHO) declared SARS-CoV- 2 (COVID-19) as a pandemic, which has triggered consequences in terms of physical and mental health in the world population. Taking into account the behavior of previous pandemics and the current numbers, it is predicted that there will be an increase in the psychological comorbidity of the population. Moreover, it has been found that attitudes intervene in the behavior of individuals, so a neutral or negative attitude towards an object or person will make it difficult to carry out an action, in this case the seek for professional psychological help. Method: The design proposed for this research is a cross-sectional quantitative approach with a descriptive scope. For this, there will be the participation of adults residing in Spain. The information collection instruments will be the instrument made by Riveros et al. (2015), the short scale of attitudes towards seeking professional help (ATSPPH-SF) and a questionnaire of sociodemographic variables. Results: it was identified a favorable attitude in the attitude towards the psychologist and towards the seek for professional psychological help in people residing in Spain. In the same way, significant differences were identified in attitudes towards the professional work of the psychologist with respect to resources to attend to therapy, and in the case of sex with respect to attitudes towards seeking help. There was identified a positive correlation between attitudes towards the psychologist and towards seeking help.
