Abstract
With the beginning of the Second Punic War, the Iberian Peninsula fully entered into Roman affairs. Regarding the advance of the various magistrates in Hispania were achieving after the Carthaginians’ expulsion, we have the texts that specially the Greek ancient writers handed on about it. Therefore, firstly, we will look into the phases of the conquest of Hispania, to be able to clarify, in the same way, the stages of the knowledge they had about the peninsula, because both facts are intimately linked. Then we will
investigate the two aspects on which we have decided to focus the work on: Myths and Geography. In the first of them, we will adress both the Greco-Roman mythological traditions related to our peninsula and those that postulate as genuinely indigenous, but also having to resort to classical texts. In the section on geography, we will make a chronological tour of the geography-ethnographic tradition about Hispania during the two centuries in which its conquest took place.
