Abstract
(C6F5)3As has a very low coordinating capacity, and this permits isolation of the neutral O3ClOAgAs(C6F5)3 and the cationic Ag[(C6F5)3As]2ClO4 silver compounds. (C6F5)3As is easily oxidized by chlorine or thallic chloride to give (C6F5)3AsCl2. Metathetical reactions of (C6F5)3AsCl2 with silver salts give mono-substituted derivatives of the type (C6F5)3AsClX (X = NO3, ClO4, OAc). Alcoholysis of (C6F5)3AsCl2 leads to the isolation of compounds of the type (C6F5)3AsCl(OR) (R = CH3, CH2CH3, C6H5). Structural information on the new organoarsenic(V) derivatives has been obtained by IR spectroscopy.
