Abstract
This article deals with the impact of the election of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the Democratic president of the United States of America, in the Madrilenian press. It analyses the content of his inaugural address and the political programme which he proposed to carry out. In addition, it explains the initial measures adopted by his government in order to solve the American economic crisis.
