Lengua y discurso en torno a la COVID-19

Abstract

La pandemia por COVID que afecta al mundo desde principios de 2020 ha tenido efectos en todos los órdenes sociales, desde la sanidad a la economía, y desde el trabajo al ocio. El lenguaje no podía escapar a esta influencia. Este artículo pretende examinar las consecuencias de la pandemia para la lengua española, en dos niveles, el del léxico, tanto especializado como general, y el de la conformación discursiva. Para ellos se han adoptado los métodos de la lingüística histórica, de la pragmática y del análisis del discurso. La cantidad y celeridad de las innovaciones que se han dado en ambos niveles es indicio de los cambios sociales durante la pandemia. A su vez, la selección terminológica y la construcción del discurso en torno a la COVID son manifestaciones de la voluntad de configurar un aparato ideológico e influir en las creencias y conductas de las personas.

The COVID pandemic that has affected the world since the beginning of 2020 has had effects on all social orders, from health to the economy, and from work to leisure. Language could not escape this influence. This article aims to examine the consequences of the pandemic onthe Spanish language on two levels:that of the lexicon, both specialized and general, and that of the discursive conformation. For them,the methods of Historical Linguistics, Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis have been adopted. The quantity and speed of the innovations that occurred at both levels arean indication of the social changes during the pandemic. In turn, the terminological selection and the construction of the discourse around COVID are manifestations of the will to configure an ideological apparatus andtoinfluence people’s beliefs and behaviors.
