dc.description.abstract(C6Cl5)3Sb and (C6Cl5)3Bi have been isolated from SbCl3 or BiCl3 and C6Cl5Li. AsCl3 gives only (C6Cl5)2AsCl even with a large excess of C6Cl5Li. Treatment of (C6Cl5)3Sb with halogens gives (C6Cl5)3SbX2 (X=Cl, Br). Br2 does not react with (C6Cl5)2AsCl whereas Cl2 gives an intractable residue which is rapidly hydrolysed to [(C6Cl5)2As]2O. Treatment of (C6Cl5)3Bi with halogens cleaves the C-Bi bonds to give C6Cl5X and unidentified oxohalobismuth(III) derivatives.en
