Abstract
Y, 3. Un análisis de traducción es imprescindible The existing need and interest in knowing and understanding what is spoken in another language within certain social settings has been investigated, compiled, and analyzed by Letizia Cirillo and Natacha Niemants in the textbook, Teaching Dialogue Interpreting, published in October, 2017, for which a translation of this book is necessary for interested individuals who do not know the source language and are interested in this topic.
The main purpose of this work was to translate three chapters of the aforementioned textbook from English to Spanish considering theories and methods of translation by the prior investigation works of Amparo Hurtado Albir, Christiane Nord, and Peter Newmark. In this project, the translation theory of equivalence, and the word-for-word, faithful/literal methodology was applied. For the translation, parallel texts were used to help understand the topic, along with existing resources.
Chapters 7, 8, and 9 were translated. The first topic was Film festival interpreting, followed by Interpreting on TV talk shows, and lastly, the intervention of the interpreter as a cultural mediator in educational settings highlighting the interpreter’s importance in this role. The hypothesis laid out was that translating faithfully and literally, and without taking into consideration a text analysis of the source text would be a good translation.
Conclusions: 1. Considering the target culture, it is necessary to decide upon, and apply a theory and a methodology. 2. A text to translate should preferably be the source text. And, 3. A text analysis is essential
