Inmigración y refugio en España: prejuicios y legislación vigente. prestaciones especiales a extranjeros

Abstract

La creciente afluencia de población extranjera a nuestro país por distintas causas en los últimos años ha dado lugar a la formación de opiniones y a la difusión de bulos que incitan al racismo y a la xenofobia por causa del desconocimiento y la desinformación acerca de la legislación vigente. El objetivo principal del presente trabajo es ofrecer una visión comparada de la opinión y de los conocimientos de los habitantes de España acerca de la inmigración y refugio, qué prejuicios y falsas creencias los rodean, frente a lo que la legislación española vigente recoge acerca de ello. Esta investigación se basa en un estudio comparativo a través de la realización de encuestas que nos ayuden a ilustrar y a recoger qué opinan las personas de a pie que son inmigrantes, refugiados y apátridas, si existen diferencias por definición entre ellos y si reciben ayudas especiales distintas de las que recibe la población española por parte del Gobierno. Partiremos desde la hipótesis de que gran parte de la población considera que el Gobierno de España concede a inmigrantes y refugiados ayudas de gran valor de las que el resto de habitantes de nuestro territorio no se puede beneficiar, es decir, que existen prestaciones de gran cuantía única y exclusivamente para extranjeros. Para comprobar que es una creencia extendida, realizaremos un estudio de población a españoles que se analizará posteriormente en contraste con la legislación española vigente con el fin de desmentir o confirmar dichas afirmaciones. Además, hablaremos de los distintos conflictos y problemas que han surgido en los últimos años y a lo largo de la historia que han dado lugar a unas realidades tan actuales como son la inmigración y el refugio junto con las leyes españolas que las regulan dentro de un marco teórico que nos ayudará a comprender con mayor facilidad el análisis de los resultados del estudio. Por último, confirmaremos que el Gobierno de España no concede prestaciones especiales a extranjeros distintas de las que recibe la población española, sino que lo que se piensa que reciben son ayudas por parte de las ONG (Organizaciones No Gubernamentales) que se hacen cargo del cuidado de los recién llegados en muchos casos y de la inserción de dichas personas en nuestra sociedad como unos ciudadanos más

The growing influx of foreigners to Spain for various reasons in recent years has led to the formation of opinions and the spread of hoaxes that incite racism and xenophobia because of ignorance and misinformation about current legislation. The main objective of this paper is to offer a comparative view of the opinion and knowledge of the inhabitants of Spain about immigration and asylum, what stereotypes and false beliefs surround them, as opposed to what current Spanish legislation has to say about it. It is based on a comparative study through the carrying out of surveys that help us to illustrate and collect the opinion of ordinary people who are immigrants, refugees and stateless persons, whether there are differences by definition among them and whether they receive special benefits from the Government that are not received by Spanish citizens. We will start from the hypothesis that a large part of the population believes that the Government of Spain grants immigrants and refugees benefits of great value from which the rest of the inhabitants of Spain cannot benefit, that is to say, that there are benefits of great amount which are exclusively available to foreigners. In order to verify that this is a widespread belief, we will carry out a population study that will be analyzed later in contrast with Spain’s current legislation in order to refute or confirm these assertions. In addition, we will talk about the different conflicts and problems that have arisen in the recent years and throughout history that have led to such current realities as immigration and asylum along with the Spanish laws regulating these situations within a theoretical framework that will help us more easily understand the analysis of the results of the study. Finally, we will confirm that the Government of Spain does not grant special benefits to foreigners different from those received by the Spanish population, but that what they are thought to receive are benefits from NGOs (non-governmental organizations) that take charge of the care of newcomers in many cases and of the insertion of these people into the Spanish society as just any another citizen
