Abstract
This project consists of the design and assembly of a portable lighting system based on a white LED coupled to an optical fiber that will be used in physiology laboratories for small specimens where it is necessary a high precision and clarity lighting, since the objective is the illumination of nerve fibers of them.
The final result is a circuit powered by a 9 Volt battery that allows the excitation of the LED with a square signal with maximum light output without compromising its operation and duration. The coupling of the LED with a 1 mm diameter fiber optic whip allows the internal illumination of small live specimens.
One feature proposed to the development is the ability to vary the excitation frequency of the LED for tests where it is necessary to identify temporary responses, as well as to vary the intensity of the illumination of the specimen.
