Abstract
Throughout this project, it is intended to understand the relationship between single family houses and its natural environment. To achieve this, the work is divided into three parts. First, a general context is provided of how housing has evolved throughout history, and how its relationship with nature has changed. Once this is explained, 18 categories of relationship between single-family housing and nature are chosen. Some of these categories aim to encompass a large number of houses, while others are unique and refer to unique relationships. To explain these categories, a series of houses which represent them are chosen. Each relationship is explained through information, planimetry, photographs and schemes. Finally, an analysis of a house whose relationship with nature is of great importance, Casa Huarte, one of the most signicant examples of domestic architecture of the sixties, is carried out. Once understood, it compares to three other houses, built by contemporary architects, also belonging to the Escuela de Madrid, in the first decade of the 21st century.
