Abstract
How to decolonize a colonial language? In the anthology "Reinventing the Enemy’s Language" (1997), edited by Joy Harjo and Gloria Bird, a discursive, argumentative and rhetorical project of decolonization of written English is put into effect to allow the transmission of the voices and images of native, mestiza and chicana writers; and, while reading, to evoke scenes from an oral storytelling. At the same time, the conventional parameters of an editorial anthology are altered to become a literary work, even a novel, whose ‘author’ is a community of women, contributors and editors.
