"El volante" de César Aira o cómo no escribir una novela

Abstract

En este artículo pretendemos analizar las implicaciones que se derivan de enunciaciones autoficcionales de carácter fantástico y su relación con el humor en la obra "El volante" (1992) del autor argentino César Aira. En ella, la parodia y lo inverosímil promueven una lectura fantástica y absurda en una historia saturada de elementos humorísticos y paródicos, donde diferentes niveles diegéticos complejizan las nociones de realidad a través de juegos metalépticos en los que el autor se autonarra “actuando” como personaje caricaturizado.

This paper will examine the implications derived from the fantastic autofictional statements and its relations with humour in the novel "El volante" (1992), by the Argentinian author César Aira. The parody and the implausibleness foster a fantastic and absurd reading, where different diegetic levels make the notions of reality more complex through metaleptic games in which the author self-narrates and “acts” as a caricatured character.
