Abstract
Chirped-pulse ΦOTDR provides distributed strain measurement via a time-delay estimation process. We propose a lower bound for performance, after reducing sampling error and compensating phase-noise. We attempt to reach the limit, attaining unprecedented pε/√Hz sensitivities.
