La Peste (plaga) de Atenas

Abstract

In this historical we have reviewedthe subject of the plague that harvested the lives of thousands of Athenians between the years 430-426 a.C. among them the statistician Pericles. The historiographer Thucydides narrates in some passages an episode that he lived and suffered in the first person. It is an epidemic attributed to the bacterium Salmonella enterica. In this brief walk through a stage of the History of Greece, Thucydides intuits in his texts the concepts of contagion and immunity by objectively narrating the signs and symptoms he observed.

En esta reseña histórica se trata el tema de la peste que segó la vida de milesde atenienses entre los años 430-426 a.C.,entre ellas la del estadista Pericles. El historiógrafo Tucídides narra en algunos pasajes un episodio que vivió y padeció en primera persona.Parece ser una epidemia atribuida a la bacteria Salmonella enterica.En este brevepaseo por una etapa de la Historiade Grecia, Tucídides intuyeen sus textoslos conceptos de contagio e inmunidadnarrando de manera objetiva los signos y síntomas que observó.
