Abstract
This restoration proposal is for an old landfill of inert waste that was never established for this purpose legally, whose land is in disuse, with some waste exposed and stacked in an unstable way. The landfill occupies 3.56 ha and is located in the Cañadas area of the municipality of El Espinar, being part of a protected area called Campo Azálvaro - Pinares de Peguerinos. The actions are focused on increasing the landscape and ecological value of the landfill area, proposing ecological restoration actions to transform it into a future recreational and educational sector as an astronomical observatory (to be part of Starlight destinations, a worldwide distinction that protects the night sky and highlights its quality). It is proposed to remodel the land in order to achieve a structurally stable topography that minimizes the risks of landslide or collapse of the slopes and facilitate the natural drainage of surface water, avoiding erosion by trawling and favoring the installation of the vegetation cover. This remodeling will have a flat top so that later they can establish the astronomical observatory. In addition, is wanted to make the revegetation of the land to provide protection and integrate the area with the surrounding landscape; is going to be plant irregularly to simulate a natural environment, using species adapted to the climatic conditions of the area, which guarantee a minimum need for maintenance.
