Crecimiento urbano y dinámica laboral: un análisis intersectorial del "commuting" en la Comunidad de Madrid (1996-2004)

Abstract

El artículo analiza la relación entre la estructura urbana y el mercado laboral, valorando hasta qué punto el modelo monocéntrico de desarrollo urbano es válido para el área metropolitana de Madrid. Junto al análisis de la localización de las empresas y los hogares en la Comunidad, se analizan los flujos intermunicipales de "commuting" entre 1996-2004. Mediante el cálculo de la redundancia relativa de las matrices de "commuting" se cuantifica la dispersión de los flujos laborales intermunicipales a lo largo del periodo contemplado. Asimismo, mediante técnicas de análisis de cambio estructural en tablas inut-output se analiza la estabilidad temporal de los patrones de movilidad, identificando comportamientos diferentes para los diferentes sectores.

This article analyze the relation between urban structure and labor markets, with the purpose of valuing to what extent the monocentric model fits with the recent development of Madrid metropolitan area. Starting with the analysis of the territorial localization of companies and households within the Madrid region, we analyze the intermunicipal "commuting" flows between 1996-2004. Then, by the calculation of entropy for a set of inter-municipal matrix of "commuting flows", the sprawl of population and economic activity is quantified. Finally, by means of techniques of structural change analysis in the input-output framework, the inter-temporal stability of mobility patterns is analysed, identifying significant differences among sectors.
