El Horacio lírico de Víctor Botas

Abstract

El propósito de este trabajo es estudiar la recepción que el poeta Víctor Botas hace de la tradición clásica y en concreto de la lírica de Horacio, las “Odas” y el “Canto Secular”. Con tal objetivo, distinguiremos tres aspectos de esa relación: la construcción de Horacio como personaje (1), las versiones poéticas del libro “Segunda mano” (2), y, por último, las relaciones intertextuales que establece Víctor Botas con Horacio (3). En este último aparatado nos centraremos en tres temas: la reflexión sobre la propia poesía, la actualización del tópico del “carpe diem” y la perdurabilidad de la poesía.

The purpose of this paper is to study the reception of classical tradition in the Spanish poet Víctor Botas, and, in particular, of Horace’s lyric works, the “Odes” and the “Carmen Saeculare”. To this aim, we will distinguish three aspects of this relationship: the construction of Horace as a character (1), the poetic versions of the book “Segunda mano” (2), and, finally, the intertextual relationships between Horace and Víctor Botas (3). In this last section we will focus on three topics: the reflection on the poetry itself, the updating of “carpe diem”, and the perdurability of poetry.
