Interpretación en contextos de asilo y refugio: una lucha hacia el bienestar

Abstract

well-being of refugees is usually affected both by the reasons that forced migration and by their personal situation in the host country. The legislation governing translation and interpreting in those contexts in Spain has evolved; it still does not reflect the new social reality of the country. The demand for interpreters has increased while the required degree of professionalism and training has decreased. This paper focuses on the importance of the translator and interpreter, different roles and the requirements of the current situation and it offers a contextualized view on interpreting in the field of international protection.

El bienestar de los refugiados se suele ver afectado por los motivos que forzaron su migración y por su propia situación en el país de acogida. Aunque la normativa que regula los servicios de traducción e interpretación en dichos entornos en España ha evolucionado, todavía no refleja la nueva realidad social que vive el país. La demanda de intérpretes ha crecido tanto como ha descendido el grado de profesionalidad y formación exigido. El presente trabajo plasma una visión contextualizada de la interpretación en el ámbito de la protección internacional y se centra en la importancia de la figura del traductor e intérprete, los distintos roles que puede adoptar y las exigencias en el panorama actual.
