This paper addresses the question of the relationship between the purgatorial categories of sin linked to the sensitivity of the body, especially gluttony and lust, and the musical treatment they receive in Dantes text. It is a sensory sphere, an inferior type according to Aquinas, that in the poem receives a melodic characterization focused on a network of internal refe- rences. The sins of gluttony and lust, at the top of the purgatorial mountain, are represented not only through dialogue between characters and environmental descriptions but also thanks to the arrangement, by the author, of a monophonic frame structured around registers and musical tones closely intertwined in a way that contribute to unify the last stage of the purgatorial journey before the concluding Edenic chants.es_ES
