| es_ES |

It is a disease of cosmopolitan distribution constitutes a major public health problem in many countries of the world where it causes high morbidity and a significant economic impact in endemic regions. It affects both animals and humans. Man is an accidental host, where the cyst can develop into different organs. The most affected organs are liver and lung. To fight hydatid disease, there are three possible treatments: surgery, PAIR and drug treatment. Chemotherapy is a non-invasive treatment that has been developed in the seventies and has demonstrated the effectiveness of benzimidazole carbamates against hydatid disease. Albendazole and mebendazole, are the most important drugs. | en |
