Aproximación al español como lengua de instrucción

Abstract

Para muchos niños y jóvenes inmigrantes el aprendizaje de una nueva lengua se extiende más allá del dominio de una competencia comunicativa general. Por estar escolarizados, necesitan aprender también, la lengua con la que se transmite el currículum y se regulan la práctica educativa. Es así como, para los niveles de educación obligatoria podemos hablar del español o de la L2 como lengua de instrucción (Li) Este concepto abarca cuatro ámbitos diferentes: el discurso del profesor, el currículum escolar, el uso de las diferentes destrezas en el aula y el tratamiento de los contenidos curriculares.

From children and young immigrants perspective, the learning of a new language is more than a general communicative competence. Since they go to school, they also need to learn the language that transmits the curriculum and regulates educational practices. Thus, in the area of compulsory education we refer to Spanish or the L2 as the language of instruction (Li). This concept covers four separated scopes: the teachers' speech, the education curriculum, the use of the different skills in the classroom and the treatment of the curricular contents.
