Distintas funciones de la descortesía: los insultos de los políticos en la prensa escrita

Abstract

Partimos del análisis de los insultos y descalificaciones de los políticos que se recogen en la prensa escrita española. Situándonos metodológicamente en la Lingüística Pragmática y en los estudios sobre (des)cortesía, hemos constatado, en primer lugar, la complejidad polifónica de este tipo de discurso en el que intervienen al mismo tiempo elementos corteses y descorteses en función de los distintos destinatarios a los que se dirige el mensaje. En segundo lugar, hemos comprobado las distintas funciones que desempeña la descortesía en estos enunciados, entre las que predomina la función argumentativa, ya que, por una parte, el político utiliza el insulto como estrategia argumentativa para derribar al adversario y captar votos y, por otra, el locutor periodístico utiliza la cita descortés del insulto para desacreditar igualmente al adversario ideológico o para atacar al propio enunciador del insulto si este es un adversario político.

We left from the analysis of the politician’s insults that appear in the Spanish written press. Our methodology is Pragmatic Linguistic and studies about (Im)politeness. We have stated, in the first place, the polyphonic complexity of this type of speech in which polite and impolite elements take part at the same time based on the different addressees from which goes the message. Secondly, we have verified the different functions of impoliteness in these texts. The most important of these functions is argumentative function, since, on the one hand, the politician uses the insult like argumentative strategy to demolish the adversary and to catch votes and, by another one, the journalistic speaker uses the impoliteness appointment of the insult to also discredit the ideological adversary or to attack the own speaker of the insult if this he is a political adversary.
