La visió del cavaller Louis d’Auxerre: edició crítica de la versió catalana

Abstract

Presentamos la edición crítica, acompañada de un estudio preliminar, de la traducción catalana de la Visio Ludovici de Francia, una obra escrita en latín en la segunda mitad del s. xiv por el fraile franciscano Taddeo dei Gualandi, a partir del testimonio del caballero Louis de Auxerre, que se enmarca en la rica tradición de relatos vinculados con el Purgatorio irlandés configurada, sobre todo, con el Tractatus de Purgatorio Sancti Patricii de H. de Saltrey. El descubrimiento de una nueva copia de la versión catalana nos ha permitido mejorar las dos ediciones anteriores (Miquel i Planas 1914 y Teulats 2011), además, a partir de la comparación de los dos manuscritos conservados en catalán con los diversos testimonios del texto latino y con las dos versiones de la traducción italiana del s. xv, hacemos algunas aportaciones sobre la transmisión de esta Visio, una narración con voluntad catequética, reflejo del imaginario medieval relacionado con el Más Allá.

We are presenting here the critical edition and preliminary study of the Catalan translation of Visio Ludovici de Francia, a Latin work written during the second half of the 14th Century by the Franciscan friar Taddeo dei Gualandi, based on the witness of the knight Louis d’Auxerre, and framed within the rich storytelling tradition relating to St Patrick’s Purgatory. It is configured, essentially, as H. de Saltrey’s Tractatus de Purgatorio Sancti Patricii. The discovery of a new copy of the Catalan version has allowed us to improve both previous editions (Miquel i Planas 1914 and Teulats 2011) and, thus, from the collation of both Catalan manuscripts preserved with the existing testimonies of the Latin text and the two existing versions of the Italian translation from the 15th Century, we have been able to make contributions on the transmission of the cited Visio, a narration with a catechismal intention, reflecting the medieval imaginary related to the hereafter.
