Castilla y la Guerra de los Cien Años, entre 1337 y 1366, en la literatura francesa del siglo XIV

Abstract

En este trabajo se desea mostrar cómo la producción escrita en lengua francesa del siglo xiv dio cabida a la implicación del reino de Castilla en la Guerra de los Cien Años, en el período comprendido entre el comienzo del conflicto (1337) y el primer derrocamiento de Pedro I el Cruel (1366). En esta etapa se fueron preparando acontecimientos importantes para Castilla, que se desarrollarían por completo en años posteriores. Se podrá ver cómo la literatura en lengua francesa de la época se hizo eco de las relaciones internacionales de Castilla sólo en la medida en que éstas tuvieron alguna repercusión notable en la Guerra de los Cien Años.

This essay sets out to examine how the written production in French in the 14th century embraced the involvement of the Kingdom of Castile in the Hundred Years War, in the period beginning with the breakout of the conflict (1337) through to the dethronement of Peter I the Cruel in 1366. This period saw the emergence of important events for Castile, events which would have far-reaching consequences in later years. This essay shows that the literature of the period written in French only included Castilian international relations when they had remarkable repercussions in the One Hundred Years War.
