Abstract
The life of Saint Librada, virgin and martyr, has reached our hands in the form of a chapbook in prose from the middle of the 16th century, mixture of the legend of Saint Librada and the “tremendismo” that appealed so much to the readers of these works.
The intention of this paper is to analyse the medieval source of this chapbook —which is, most probabily, the Leccionario Seguntino of the twelfth century— as well as the folk and literary components of this hagiographic text of medieval origins. It also bring foward some data about the chapbook, since it lacks colophon, has no explicit author, and indicates neither the editor, nor the printing place.
