San Bartolomé Apóstol y los dichos de las danzantas de La Almarcha (Cuenca)

Abstract

En este artículo se pretende analizar la figura histórica del apóstol San Bartolomé, uno de los doce discípulos de Jesús. Para ello se recurre a diversas fuentes de documentación: los evangelios, los evangelios apócrifos y la tradición oral. Se estudia sus avatares iconográficos y se investigan los orígenes de su culto. Por último, se recogen los ecos que todavía se conservan, en el pueblo de La Almarcha (Cuenca), de los doce “dichos” a San Bartolomé.

The author attempts to analyze St. Bartholomew the Apostle, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus, as a historical figure. In this aim, several sources of reference are examined: the synoctic Gospel, the apocryphal gospels and the oral tradition. The article focuses on his varied iconography and searches for the reasons why. Finally, this publication also collects the four remaining octosyllabic verse lines dedicated to St. Bartholomew, originally twelve. These verses, called dichos, are still recited in the town of La Almarcha (Cuenca).
