Algunas consideraciones sobre la medicina popular en la provincia de Lugo. Las curaciones por medio de ensalmos (I)

Abstract

En este trabajo trato la curación mediante ensalmos de algunas enfermedades ligadas a los huesos y, muy especialmente, de “la caída de la espinilla y paletilla”. Cuando hablamos de “espinilla” nos estamos refiriendo a un conjunto de vértebras dispuestas en hilera y unidas entre sí, que forman el eje del esqueleto y sostienen el cuerpo humano. Por el contrario, con el nombre de “paletilla” aludimos a cada uno de los huesos planos que articulan el brazo con el hombro.

In this work I deal with the cure by quack remedies of a few illnesses which have to do with bones, and, more especially, with the fall of sin-bone “espinilla” and the shoulder-blade “paletilla”. When we talk about the shin-bone, we are referring to a set of vertebras organised in rows and linked together, which form the spinal column (spindle) of the skeleton and hold the human body. On the contrary, with the name of shoulder-blade we are referring to all the flat bones which articulate the arm with the shoulder.
