Abstract

This paper presents a collection of songs gathered in Zambra (Córdoba) among people, between 50 and 82 years old; most of them women. The majority of these songs were created with a ludic purpose and some of them were made in the so called “Veladas de poetas” (the poet’s evenings); even when they accumulate popular knowledge with general teachings, they also present humor through mockery of what is ugly, stupid, grotesque or eschatological as well as topics like the mother in law or sex. Yet, these songs also have other kinds of topics such as friendship.
