"Otho 'bui". Migrantes otomíes en la ciudad de México

Abstract

This work analyzes the result of a poll on attitudes and beliefs answered by two networks of Otomi immigrants in Mexico City. The goal is to investigate the role that language has on the identity of these new extraterritorial or moral communities and how this is perceived by the speakers, the ideas they have about its status and the value they infer to it in an urban context where bilingualism is not generalized and there is a preference for Spanish.

En el presente trabajo se analiza el resultado de una encuesta sobre actitudes y creencias aplicada a dos redes de migrantes otomíes de la ciudad de México. El objetivo es investigar el papel que tiene la lengua en la identidad de estas nuevas comunidades extraterritoriales o comunidades morales y cómo es vista por los propios hablantes, que ideas tiene sobre su estatus y el valor que le otorgan en un contexto urbano donde el bilingüismo no es generalizado y existe una diglosia que favorece al español.
