El desarrollo de las investigaciones sobre inmigración en los Estados Unidos de América

Abstract

This article presents an overview of the development of immigration research in the United States and its current situation. From a sociological perspective, various schools are chronologically analyzed. Starting with the assimilation paradigm, the Parsonian school and the Chicago school, the author explores the transition period (1960-1980) as well as new approaches to immigration studies. The main objective of this article is to provide a framework for the comparative study of intemational immigration to the United States and to Spain.
