La carga de choque en la épica francesa y castellana

Abstract

La batalla es un elemento fundamental tanto en la épica francesa medieval como en la castellana. En la descripción de la misma, una de las partes principales es la carga de choque, o ataque con la lanza. El objetivo de este estudio es mostrar las narraciones de esta ofensiva en ambas épicas, analizando los diferentes procedimientos descriptivos y los paralelismos estructurales y formulísticos entre los textos franceses y castellanos. Asimismo, se pretende sopesar la influencia que pudieron ejercer las chansons de geste en estos pasajes de cantares castellanos.

A battle is a key matter both in French and Castilian medieval epic. One of the main parts of its description is the collision charge, also known as spear attack. The purpose of this study will focus on showing the narration of this offensive manoeuvre in both epic literatures, analyzing the different descriptive procedures and the structural and formulaic parallels that appear in the French and Castilian texts. Moreover, this research will attempt to weigh up the infiuence that the chansons de geste could have had on the passages that belong to the Castilian epic songs analysed in this article.
