Un nuovo contributo allo studio del mito degli angeli neutrali nella "Commedia"

Abstract

El artículo analiza el motivo de los ángeles neutrales que aparece en el vestíbulo infernal representado en el canto tercero del Inferno de la Commedia de Dante Alighieri. En primer lugar, se examina la estructura de ese canto y el rol del vestíbulo infernal en el conjunto de la obra. A continuación, se estudian las distintas fuentes que se han barajado para explicar la inclusión en la obra dantesca de estos ángeles que no tomaron partido en la rebelión de Lucifer: teología católica e islámica, literatura apocalíptica, literatura románica y germánica (especialmente de visiones) y motivos folclóricos, prestando especial atención a las opiniones de los comentaristas medievales a la Commedia. Se concluye poniendo en relieve el gran interés del folclore para explicar la creencia en ángeles neutrales y su inclusión por Dante.

This article analyzes the motif of neutral angels that appear in the lobby of Hell represented in the third song of the Dante's Commedia Inferno. First, the article examines the structure of the Inferno and the role of the lobby throughout the book. Then, it reviews the various sources that have been discussed to explain the inclusion of these angels that didn't take part in the rebellion of Lucifer: Catholic and Islamic theology, apocalyptic literature, Roman and Germanic literature (especially visions) and folk grounds, paying particular attention to the views of medieval commentators to the Commedia. The conclusion highlights the keen interest of folklore to explain the belief in neutral angels.
