Abstract
Partiendo de las raíces comunes en el alemán y en el español -que a veces producen
palabras con unas sorprendentes similitudes en cuanto al significante aunque menos en
cuanto al significado- relaciono palabras conocidas en español con palabras del alemán que
se quieren aprender. Estas similitudes se deben a común origen germánico, préstamo o calco
del latín, español u otra lengua al alemán. Por último reúno unos ejemplos de como aprender
una palabra alemana puede resultar más simple si sabemos explicar su composición u
origen. Starting from common roots in the Spanish and Germán languages -which sometimes
produce words with surprising similarities in their morphology but with less similarities in
meaning- I select the Germán words that I want to include in the learning event and their
well-known Spanish equivalents. These similarities between these words are caused by a
common germanic origin, borrowing from Latin, Spanish or another language to Germán.
Finally I gather a few examples of how understanding a word's morphology or origin
facilitates its learning and retention.
