Students themselves playa crucial part in the initial choice of subject matter and the decisions related to appropiate working method, the project timetable and the eventual «end product». Project work provides students with opportunities to recycle know language and skills in a relatively natural context because specific language aims are not prescribed and because students concentrate their efforts and attention on reaching an agreed goal. They must«produce» language instead of simply «receive» language. Through the project News about your city, students of BUP produced a collection of stories and interviews about their own school and city which were of interest to their mates. Besides, this project offered plenty of scope to students with artistic talents: in addition to writing and speaking, there were opportunities for individuals to work on design and layout, photography and illustration, publicity and interviews while they where highly involved. The last stage was the production of a TV (video) news programme which encouraged students to concentrate on the quality of what they produce rather than mere quantity. %K Humanidades %K Filología hispánica %K Humanities %K Spanish philology %~ Biblioteca Universidad de Alcala
