%X In this article the author analyzes two poems written by José Martí in New York
that appeared after his death in Cuba, and subsequently in critical editions of his work. The
objective is to make known the original version of one of them and to highlight the changes
that recent editors have made, even striking one version of one of these poems from the
most recent compilation of his "Obras completas" (“Complete Works”), and have erroneously
attributed to Martí a short story written by the Colombian writer Santiago Pérez Triana.
